Online Banking Security Measures

Why security is important

Satisfying our customers' financial needs in a secure manner and helping them succeed financially has been a cornerstone of Mountain View Bank of Commerce since we first opened our doors. At Mountain View Bank of Commerce, protecting our clients and their information is a top priority whether you are online or not– one that we take very seriously. We continue to enhance our systems and processes as online services evolve. Because no single solution can ensure online security, we have developed a layered security approach with industry-leading solutions.

We have two major objectives in selecting the right electronic safeguards:
  • Protecting our clients' information
  • Minimizing client impact while providing multiple layers of protection wherever client transactions call for added security

Security, quite simply, protects the confidentiality of your account information and prevents theft of your financial assets.

Your safety is our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 303.243.5400 or at operations@mvbofc.com(Opens in a new Window).

Internet security overview

You play a crucial role in your online security and we work hard with you to protect your account.

What we do to protect your security online:
  • Multi-layered security, including password verification or two-factor authentication, to ensure user authorization.
  • Limit the number of times you can enter your password incorrectly.
  • Monitor and record incorrect login attempts to detect suspicious activity, such as someone trying to guess your password.
  • Time out your online banking session after a period of inactivity
What you can do to protect your security online:
  • Never use “weak” passwords that are easy to guess
  • Never reveal your password to another person
  • Periodically change your password
  • Always sign-out or log out when you have finished a banking session.

Enhanced Login Security

Enhanced login security helps protect against online fraud by using security questions and a personalized watermark to verify your identity in addition to the online user ID and password that you currently use.

(Opens in a new Window)

When you are at your own computer, after you enter your Online Banking ID, you should see the watermark image that you established for your account to verify that you are using Mountain View Bank of Commerce's Online Banking system. You can then enter your Online Banking Password knowing your information is safe and secure.

If you do not recognize the watermark image, first double check you entered the right user ID. If it's correct, and you still don't recognize the watermark image, you should contact our team at 303.243.5400.

In the event that the Online Banking system does not recognize you because you might be at a different computer, you will be asked two of the original three security questions you established to verify your identity. When the system is confident that you are an authenticated user, your watermark image will be displayed and you may proceed to enter your Online Banking Password.

The enhanced login security enrollment process is fast and easy. Ask our team how to get started and add this layer of protection to your account.

Two Factor Authentication and Secure Tokens

Bank Expectation of Client Responsibilities

The security systems that are in place however, cannot protect those clients who do not follow secure and proper computer practices. It is vitally important that clients take all necessary precautions such that their computer access credentials are not compromised. This includes but is not limited to avoiding any activity that increases the likelihood of identity theft; not opening fraudulent email messages that contain harmful viruses or malware; not falling prey to “social engineering” whereby perpetrators obtain computer access information with direct communications via phone calls, fax, or mail; not sharing user ID and passwords with coworkers or friends; prohibiting the use of “weak” passwords; keeping computer anti-virus and similar programs up to date; and not falling prey to internet sales and get-rich-quick scams. Therefore Mountain View Bank of Commerce has the expectation that each client will take any and all reasonable precautions to reduce the likelihood of computer related fraud and the resulting financial losses.
